| Boa constrictor is both the common and scientific name of a large South American Boa constrictor, also commonly known as the Red-tailed Boa.
Found this Boa constrictor dead along the Pipeline road in the Soberania National Park in Panama.

The glazed appearance of the eye indicates that this individual is about to shed its skin. The shabby, lustreless appearance of the skin also points to that. More likely that the snake was in a torpid condition; had you grabbed it it would have quickly 'come to life'. Moreover, a corpse that large (and it does look big!) never remains undamaged for long in that environment. The vultures would be on it in no time. I'm jealous: I have never found a really big boa like this one, despite frequent shooting trips to Panama.
