The golden silk orb-weavers (genus Nephila) are a genus of araneomorph spiders noted for the impressive webs they weave. Nephila consists of numerous individual species found around the world. They are also commonly called golden orb-weavers, giant wood spiders or banana spiders.This Golden Silk Orb-Weavers photo was taken in the Soberania Rain Forest Nature Park in Panama. As seen in this image the female spider is much larger about 2 inches long and the male spider is much smaller about 1/4 inch.
